Q: I think I might be pregnant. What are some of the signs of pregnancy?
A: Here are some common signs that you might be pregnant:

Q: Where can I get a pregnancy test?
A: Mother & Child Education Center offers free pregnancy tests.

Q: How soon will I know the results of my pregnancy test?
A: You will know the results of your pregnancy test in less than ten minutes.

Q: Do I have to wait till I’ve missed my period to take a pregnancy test?
A: It is possible to have a positive test several days before your next anticipated period.

Q: How much does a pregnancy test cost?
A: Pregnancy tests, like all services at Mother & Child Education Center, are free.

Q: What type of ID do I need to bring to the pregnancy test?
A: No ID? No problem. We will not ask you for ID.

Q: How do I become eligible for the free pregnancy test?
A: There are no special requirements. You do not need to live in a specific geographic area or have a certain income level. You are welcome to come in for a pregnancy test any time we are open.

Q: What are your hours?
A: We are open 10am to 8pm Monday-Thursday and 10am to 3pm Friday & Saturday.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment?
A: Appointments are not required. We welcome walk-ins. If you are more comfortable making an appointment, then please phone ahead.

Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located at 1515 NE 41st Avenue, just off Halsey, across from Trader Joe’s and across from the Hollywood Transit Center.

Q: Are you affiliated with any national organization?
A: We are an independent organization, not affiliated with or under the umbrella of any other organization.

Q: Is Mother & Child Education Center affiliated with a church or political party?
A: We are an independent organization, not affiliated with or under the umbrella of any church or political party.

Q: Do you provide STD testing?
A: We are not a medical clinic and are state-authorized (CLIA) only to perform urine hCG tests. If you think you’ve been exposed to an STD you should also be tested for pregnancy. We can provide you a pregnancy test and refer you somewhere else for STD testing.

Q: Do you provide birth control pills, condoms or the morning after pill?
A: We are not a medical clinic and are state-authorized (CLIA) only to perform urine hCG tests. We do not distribute birth control pills, condoms or the morning after pill.

Q: Do you serve non-English speaking women?
A: Yes, we have Spanish-speaking and Russian-speaking staff.  Se habla español.  ??? ???????

Q: Do you have cribs, strollers and other baby furniture?
A: We do not have cribs, strollers and other baby furniture, but we are often able to connect you to sources for these items.

Q: Do you have car seats?
A: We have limited access to infant car seats.  Please contact us when baby is ready to come home from the hospital.

Q: Do you have diapers, formula and other baby items?
A: We often have diapers, formula and other baby items to give mothers to help out in an emergency. Because our supplies are limited to donations received, what we have on hand varies from day-to-day. To avoid disappointment, please phone before coming in.

Q: Will you accept donations of baby cribs, strollers, car seats or other baby furniture?
A: Because of safety concerns, we are unable to accept any used baby cribs, strollers, car seats or other baby furniture.

Q: Will you accept donations of used baby clothing?
A: Yes, we accept like-new baby clothing, size preemie through 4T.
